You are making a good point here. I tend to be cynical about the project in general and I assume that even if they improve their casting of Aslan, I will still dislike their adaptation. In any case, we canceled our subscription (that we first set up almost 15 years before) because there wasn’t much left that we wanted to watch. I do love their Watership Down series and I find myself missing Puffin Rock from time to time, but we simply weren’t using the service much anymore.
I kind of like the idea, if they don't change other aspects of the character. The predominant Satan figures are female (Jadis, Lady of the Green Kirtle), so it could be an interesting parallel if the Christ figure is also female.
Interesting take. But alienating the majority of the fan base in one fell swoop doesn’t exactly suggest integrity to the author’s overall vision in everything else. It would suggest the tip of the iceberg to me
Yes, that would be my main concern, that they'd either change things just for the sake of changing them without careful thought, or that they'd fundamentally misunderstand the core themes of the story or the aspects that make it excel.
I'm generally not an adaptational purist; I can be open to wildly alternative takes and reimaginings if they're executed well. So I'll remain in "wait and see" mode.
Yes, thanks for the comment, Margaret! As an artist, I know that no adaptation of a work can be "perfect" and it's always interesting to see another artist's take on a text. But that being said, I also believe there are some alterations that an adaptation might make which demonstrate either a contempt for; a misunderstanding of; or a lack of interest in the original artist's vision for their entire work. This for me, would be one of those kinds of alterations.

Sharing, sharing, sharing this! Thanks Sam!!
Oh, thank you for this info! I will definitely (and politely) roar for Aslan!
I emailed them despite not having Netflix for several years. Thanks for the info!!
